Amina Maya is an art director, curator and creative consultant.
Amina Maya is a designer, photographer and curator with roots in both Sierra Leone and the United States. She is currently Junior Creative Director at Black Girl in Om, and Founder and Director of Naturaliste Apothecary. Amina draws upon the imagery, color, and patterns that define West African art. Her work centers around documenting the beauty of the people from the African Diaspora as well as the rich, evolving culture of Black America. Her artistic practice visually encapsulates ancestral teachings using modern design mediums. Amina has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications from Cornish College of the Arts; with an academic focus on cultural preservation through print and digital design.
Amina has served as a co-curator of festival:festival, a guest speaker for Seattle Art Museum’s My Favorite Things Tour, and a youth educator for Seattle International Film Festival. Her work has been featured in several publications, including City Arts Magazine, PDN Edu and Mura Press.
