I am currently photographing subjects for the second installation of my identity series, FACETS.
FACETS is an exploration of the cultural identity and performance of Diaspora and Indigenous communities in the United States through portraiture. Through the process of interview, I talk with the subject about their culture to get an understanding of their background and how to represent them respectfully.
I’m hoping to photograph people in the clothing, makeup, hair etc. that represents their culture, or with some item that represents it. However, if you do not have anything or you do not feel comfortable with that, I would love to photograph you in whatever you feel expresses who you are. I am interested in exploring the complexity of being multi-cultural, so if you’re more than one you are definitely welcome to participate. If you don’t know or do not want to answer any of these questions feel free to leave it blank. If you are better at answering questions in person instead of writing, please contact me to set up a one on one interview.
